Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood Multiplayer Video

So as I promised, I jumped into the a few multiplayer matches last night in Brotherhood to give it a go. What I found was an interesting blend of knowing when to hold ‘em. Knowing when to fold ‘em. Knowing when to walk away and knowing when to run.

As you launch a multiplayer match, you pick one of a dozen or so different characters and are thrust into a medium sized portion of the city. You are immediately given a target and you are on your way. As I mentioned in my Kenny Rogers quote up there, the challenge is finding the line to straddle between dashing through the city like an acrobat or calmly walking among the crowds.

Just as you receive a target, so does everyone else. And on your screen is a portrait of the type of character they are. Be it the Jester, the Executioner, or whomever you chose. You have a distance gauge that will get you within 10-12 yards of your target and then it is up to you to determine who the real one might be.

If you are too overzealous your target might receive a warning that their assassin is closing in and that they should start running. This is usually a fine time for the daring heroics across the rooftops or finding a group of NPCs who look similar to you and try to blend in.

Killing a civilian or the wrong target not only hurts your score, it also makes you lose your current “contract” essentially giving your target a free pass until another assassin is assigned to them while you must wait for your next target to come in.

Points are awarded based on the quality of your kills, how many kills you have, etc.

The multiplayer does have a leveling system that allows you to unlock certain perks and abilities, some seeming better than others. And while this seems like new players would be at a large disadvantage, assassinating a target is a single click and most abilities seemed to be defensive in nature. As I only gained a couple levels, I have the ability to turn the appearance of my character into another game model for 15 seconds every minute to help elude a potential assassin.

Others I saw were the ability to summon 3 doppelgangers of yourself, a small pistol, and other odds and ends.

Overall it may not be the most in-depth multiplayer experience in the world, but from my brief play time this evening and only playing the “Wanted” game type, it seems like it could be a lot of fun, with it’s blend of high flying action and the definite calm before the storm feeling. I look forward to playing it again this evening.

Enjoy the video!
